October comics / cómics de octubre

Last month I didn’t get that many comics, but the ones I got were good. The first issue of Unnatural Order showed some promise. Plot Holes and Danger Street continue to be surprisingly good. The second issue of Captain America and Wonder Woman were strong contenders for the ‘best of the month’ recognition, however, I must say my favorite October comic turned out to be Flash # 2. And now, without further ado, here are October comics as per solicitations:

CAPTAIN AMERICA #2

(W) J. Michael Straczynski (A/CA) Jesus Saiz. When Spider-Man interrupts date night to ask for help taking down the Sinister Six's latest plot, Captain America begrudgingly obliges. Meanwhile, more and more of Steve's former enemies are being recruited by a mysterious new threat - one seemingly connected to an enemy Steve faced long before he picked up the shield… Rated T+

DANGER STREET #10

(W) Tom King (A/CA) Jorge Fornes. All the pieces come together as the Commodore finds his new knight, the Creeper, just in time for the Outsiders to storm his castle. Will he survive their wrath? Meanwhile, Lady Cop comes steps closer to solving the mystery of the golden Helmet of Fate as the Dingbats set their plans in motion to resurrect one of their own. As Wally West faces massively powered-up old foes as well as a new, mysterious being, he encounters a group of alien explorers who are very interested in Wally's powers (which continue to glitch). Also, something seems to be literally bubbling up in Keystone City, as the new era for the Scarlet Speedster continues! New Character Debut: THE STILLNESS!

PLOT HOLES #2

El mes pasado no recibí tantos cómics, pero los que llegaron a mis manos fueron de calidad. El primer número de Unnatural Order resultó prometedor. Plot Holes y Danger Street siguen siendo sorprendentemente buenos. El segundo número de Captain America y Wonder Woman fueron firmes candidatos al reconocimiento de 'lo mejor del mes', sin embargo, debo decir que mi cómic favorito de octubre resultó ser Flash #2. CAPTAIN AMERICA #2

April Comics / cómics de abril

Last month we only had half a dozen comics but now, lo and behold, there are over 20 comics, including quite a few FCBD books (some of which I might not have included here). So let’s start, shall we? Free Comic Book Day 2023 brought a lot of good comics (and some mediocre ones too, let’s be honest), unlike previous years, I really enjoyed the Marvel and DC books (Uncanny Avengers & Dawn of DC Knight of Terrors), 2000 AD Regened was a funny comic reimagined for children, not nearly as good as the original 2000 AD but not too bad either; Conan the Barbarian hit the right spot, and so did The Sacrificers, but the best FCBD book is actually a translation of a French comic: Animal Castle (by Xavier Dorison & Felix Delep). Danger Street and The X-Cellent continue to surprise me. I felt that the conclusion of Where Monsters Lie was a bit of a let down. I didn’t expect I would like The Ambassadors so much, issue # 3 especially, with magnificent art by Travis Charest is quite unique. And finally, I must say my favorite comic of the month is W0RLDTR33 (James Tynion IV does it again). And now, without further ado, here are April comics as per solicitations:

AMBASSADORS #2

While there, he teams up with Wolverine and is confronted by the mysterious plunderer from issue #1 - and the table is set for a battle for all creation and possibly Ben Grimm's greatest adventure. DANGER STREET #5

(W) Tom King (A/CA) Jorge Fornes. What does a small-town murder have to do with the mysteries of the Multiverse? Lady Cop is on the case, but time is running out! FCBD 2023 ANIMAL CASTLE

El mes pasado apenas hubo media docena de cómics, pero ahora, hete aquí, hay más de 20 cómics, incluidos algunos ejemplares del FCBD (algunos de los cuales preferí no incluir aquí). In the shortest month of the year I got the shortest amount of comics, but they were all really good. Danger Street and Where Monster Lie continue to surprise me. And the conclusion of Superman: Space Age and Human Target were great. Local Man was an outstanding first issue, and a strong rival for the spot of best comic of the month, which goes to the magnificent Miracleman: Silver Age # 4. And now, without further ado, here are February comics as per solicitations:

DANGER STREET #3

(W) Tom King (A/CA) Jorge Fornés. The repercussions of Atlas the Great's death play out worlds away as two old enemies become allies in the fight to save the Multiverse. En el mes más corto del año recibí la menor cantidad de cómics, pero todos estuvieron buenísimos. Danger Street y Where Monster Lie me siguen sorprendiendo. Local Man fue un primer número sobresaliente y un fuerte rival por el puesto de mejor cómic del mes, que va para el magnífico Miracleman: Silver Age # 4. January Comics / Cómics de enero

I have to say I’m thrilled with my January comics. First a shout out to this beautiful hardcover edition of America: Lost & Found, one of the best Judge Dredd stories of all times! I really enjoyed the first issue of Where Monsters Lie, and the second issues of Danger Street and Night Club were good. The conclusion of Batman Fortress was surprising and I absolutely loved The Human Target # 10, which was my favorite comic of the month. And now without further ado here are February comics as per solicitations:

AMERICA LOST & FOUND

Primero, un saludo a la estupenda edición de tapa dura de America: Lost & Found, ¡una de las mejores historias de Judge Dredd de todos los tiempos!
