November Comics / Cómics de noviembre

There were only a few comics for me in November. I was quite excited to get a bunch of heavily discounted Avatar Press trades. My favorite comic of the month was American Gods My Ainsel # 8. And now, without further ado, here are November comics as per solicitations:

AMERICAN GODS: MY AINSEL #8
(W) Neil Gaiman, P. Craig Russell (A) P. Craig Russell, Scott Hampton (CA) Glenn Fabry, Adam Brown. As Wednesday continues to gather the old Gods, Shadow's past comes back in both good and bad ways, threatening to throw his new town comforts into disarray. The Hugo, Bram Stoker, Locus, World Fantasy, and Nebula award-winning novel and hit Starz television series by Neil Gaiman is adapted as a comic series!

BAD SIGNAL
(W) Warren Ellis (A) Jacen Burrows Continuing the series, this graphic novel features the latest Bad Signal columns profusely illustrated with dozens of stunning new illustrations by celebrated artist Jacen Burrows. Warren Ellis's e-mail column shows that he is a modern master of the short form essay as his biting wit makes even the most esoteric of topics must reads. Ellis describes the work as 'Bad Signal is me on the move, emptying my head of thoughts and shoving them into a handheld computer with a wireless modem plugged into it, so that I can instantly bug four thousand people with useless email from public toilets all over the world.'

CHRONICLES OF WORMWOOD LAST ENEMY
Wormwood, Jimmy, Jay all return and the world hasn't gotten any better since their last adventure. Wormwood still produces questionable TV shows and pines for Maggie, his lost love. The boys all share drinks at their favorite pub and try to get on with their lives, but Pope Jacko has his own plans for Wormwood. In order to dispatch the Anti-Christ once-and-for-all, he dispatches his finest Holy assassin, Brother One, the Killer Eunuch! If you loved the original series, then you don't want to miss the next chapter of Garth Ennis' new sacrilegious masterpiece!

This army is soon driven to ground, and vastly outnumbered. The English army has to stand and fight, in Crecy, France. On 26 August 1346, modern warfare changed forever. This is the story of England's greatest battle. Featuring the stunningly detailed art of Raulo Caceres.

DARK BLUE
Warren Ellis & Jacen Burrows Collected in one volume, Warren Ellis' critically acclaimed Dark Blue is available as a deluxe graphic novel illustrated by Jacen Burrows with full gray tones! All-new afterword by Warren Ellis. Mature Readers. SC, b&w, 72pg

FRANKENSTEIN'S WOMB
The newest addition to Warren Ellis' Apparat line of original graphic novels has arrived! 1816 was called 'The Year Without A Summer.' In the weird darkness of that July's volcanic winter, Mary Wollestonecraft Godwin began writing Frankenstein on the shore of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. But that is not where Frankenstein began. It began months earlier when, en route through Germany to Switzerland, Mary, her future husband Percy Shelley, and her stepsister Clair Clairmont approached a strange castle. Castle Frankenstein, some one hundred years earlier, had been home to Johann Conrad Dippel, whose experiments included the independent invention of nitroglycerin, a distillation of the elixir of life - and the transfer of a live soul into an awful accretion of human body parts. Mary never spoke of having entered the real Castle Frankenstein, stark on its hilltop south of Darmstadt. But she did. And she was never the same again - because something was haunting that tower, and Mary met it there! Fear, death and alchemy - the modern age is created here, in lost moments in a ruined castle on a day never recorded. Following up the huge successes of Crecy and Aetheric Mechanics, Ellis turns his spark of mad genius to bring us a fantastical tale in this all new original graphic novel illustrated in atmospheric perfection by newcomer Marek Oleksicki. Also available in a Direct Market exclusive Hardcover edition limited to just 1,000 copies.

THOR #7

(W) Jason Aaron (A) Tony Moore (CA) Michael Del Mundo. A TALE OF YOUNG THOR FROM THE VIKING AGE! Every time Thor comes to Midgard, he gets all the mead, battle and romance a young god could possibly want. But he still can't figure out how to prove himself worthy of Mjolnir. And now Odin is determined to keep his son away from Midgard for good. And young Loki knows just the way to do it. Rated T+

AMERICAN GODS: MY AINSEL #8

CHRONICLES OF WORMWOOD LAST ENEMY

  1. I haven't bought many comics in a couple of months. The DC/Marvel ones they have on sale I pretty much have the ones I'd want. I should probably look for more of the small press/indie ones you've talked about.
