May comic books / Cómics de mayo

In May I got some really promising first issues, such as The Marvels # 1 and Legends of the Dark Knight # 1. Proctor Valley Road and Space Bastards continue to be enjoyable. But my favorite single issue of the month is Fantastic Four: Life Story #1. This was also a special month because of Barry Windsor-Smith’s first original graphic novel in decades, I haven’t finished reading it yet but I’m sure I’ll be talking a lot about it once I’m done. And now without further ado, here are May comics as per solicitations:

FANTASTIC FOUR LIFE STORY #1

(W) Mark Russell (A) Sean Izaakse (CA) Daniel Acuna. LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #1

(W/A/CA) Darick Robertson. The iconic series Legends of the Dark Knight is back! Comics icons and rising stars alike will tell digital-first stories across the Batman mythos, beginning with comics legend and co-creator of The Boys Darick Robertson writing and drawing an epic three-issue super-villain crime drama! MONSTERS

There are passages of heartbreaking tenderness, of excruciating pain, and devastating violence. It is surely one of the most intense graphic novels ever drawn.

PROCTOR VALLEY ROAD #3

(W) Alex Child, Grant Morrison (A/CA) Naomi Franquiz. The girls are supposed to stay out of trouble...and away from the haunted stretch of Proctor Valley Road. But a stolen police car leads to the return of the Proctor Valley Bull and more danger than anyone could imagine...

SPACE BASTARDS #5

En mayo recibí algunos primeros números realmente prometedores, como The Marvels # 1 y Legends of the Dark Knight # 1. Proctor Valley Road y Space Bastards continúan siendo divertidos. Pero mi número suelto favorito del mes es Fantastic Four: Life Story # 1. Este también fue un mes especial gracias a la primera novela gráfica original de Barry Windsor-Smith en décadas, aún no he terminado de leerla, pero estoy seguro de que hablaré mucho sobre ella una vez que haya terminado. Monsters se presenta con la impecable técnica de Windsor-Smith, siendo la narración visual la más sofisticada de la carrera del artista. Hay pasajes de ternura desgarradora, de dolor insoportable y violencia devastadora. Seguramente es una de las novelas gráficas más intensas jamás dibujadas.
