November Comics / Cómics de noviembre

After spending Thanksgiving in Morgan Hill, not too far from San Jose, I read last month’s comics. The Boys and Legion of Super-Heroes were very good, and the FCBD books were quite entertaining, especially Richard Fairgray’s Monster Showcase. Girl by Milligan and Fegredo is an amazing comic that I must review one day, I would choose it as the best I’ve read this year, but since it’s a reprint (from the 90s) it wouldn’t count as the best of 2020. In any case, my favorite comic of the month was Avengers: Marvels Snapshots #1, Barbara Randall Kesel writes a really touching story. And now, without further ado, here are November comics as per solicitations:

AVENGERS: MARVELS SNAPSHOT #1
The Marvel Snapshot tour through Marvel history takes a romantic - and destructive - turn during the Michelinie/Byrne/Pérez Avengers era! Take one rookie cop, add one new-to-the-city emergency medical technician, and make their meet-cute a devastating battle between the Avengers and a giant, rampaging robot! What comes next? Only Barbara Randall Kesel (Hawk & Dove, Ultragirl) and Staz Johnson (New X-Men, Robin) can tell you. Featuring Iron Man, the Beast, Wonder Man, Count Nefaria and more. Rated T+

BOYS DEAR BECKY #6
(W) Garth Ennis (A) Russell Braun (CA) Darick Robertson. Butcher remembers his last days with Becky before their lives were torn apart, but a grim revelation about the Skorchers- and the Vought American agenda behind them- throws the Boys for a loop they weren't expecting. Meanwhile, Hughie faces a devastating reckoning of his own…

GIRL TP
Peter Milligan and Duncan Fegredo’s under-the-radar story of ’90s teenage ennui is collected for the first time! The team that brought you Enigma reunites to tell the story of 15-year-old Simone Cundy, a resident of the aptly named Bollockstown. Simone has two useless parents and a general distaste for her life, so much so that she’s planning on taking some rat poison and ending it all—and then something changes. Can Simone find purpose in her life—and escape the town that’s been holding her back?

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #10
(W) Brian Michael Bendis (A) Ryan Sook, Wade Von Grawbader (CA) Ryan Sook. A grudge that has endured 1,000 years! The unstoppable behemoth Rogol Zaar has survived the millennium to haunt Jonathan Kent where he least expected it! It’s a menace so terrible the Legion of Super-Heroes may not survive. Was this the challenge Brainiac 5 predicted? Is the Legion up to the task? Plus, who is dating whom in the 31st century? Another searing chapter in the far-flung future of the DC Universe, courtesy of Bendis, Sook, and von Grawbadger!

NORSE MYTHOLOGY #2
(W) Neil Gaiman, P. Craig Russell (A) P. Craig Russell & Various (CA). Loki is forced to atone for his latest prank by pitting two groups of dwarfs against each other in a contest that will either bring the gods greater treasures than they could dream of, or cost him his head... or both.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #10
