September Comics / cómics de setiembre

To celebrate the beginning of the fall semester I decided to read a truly wonderful selection of comics. Let’s start Skinbreaker #1, with absolutely impressive art by David Finch; another comic with beautiful art is Dust to Dust, JG Jones amazes me with every page. The third issue of Superman the Kryptonite Spectrum was considerably better than the previous ones, and the fourth issue was even better! Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman and Absolute Flash are always great! I really liked the conclusion of Batman Dark Patterns, as well as the final issue of Krypto the Last Dog of Krypton. Everything Dead and Dying #1 was a captivating first issue. The Batman / Deadpool crossover was quite a treat, a really fun comic and the first Marvel / DC collaboration in over 2 decades (also the backup stories here were absolutely delightful). The best comic of the month is Fantastic Four #3. And now, without further ado, here are September comics as per solicitations.

Para celebrar el inicio del semestre de otoño, decidí leer una selección de cómics realmente maravillosa. Empecemos con Skinbreaker #1, con un arte absolutamente impresionante de David Finch; otro cómic con un arte precioso es Dust to Dust, JG Jones me sorprende con cada página. El tercer número de Superman the Kryptonite Spectrum fue considerablemente mejor que los anteriores, ¡y el cuarto fue incluso mejor! ¡Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman y Absolute Flash siempre son geniales! Me gustó mucho la conclusión de Batman Dark Patterns, así como el número final de Krypto the Last Dog of Krypton. Everything Dead and Dying #1 fue un primer número cautivador. September comic books / Cómics de setiembre

I only received half a dozen comic books this time, including the newly recolored trade paperback of Sandman / Shakespeare stories. The ending of Get Fury was pretty good. Fantastic Four was quite amusing. And Plastic Man No More continues to surprise and delight me. The best comic of the month was The Nice House by the Sea, followed very closely by Absolute Batman #1. I can’t remember the last time my two favorite comics of the month were from DC. Anyway, without further ado, here are September comics as per solicitations:

Esta vez recibí apenas media docena de cómics, incluyendo la edición recoloreada de las historias de Sandman y Shakespeare. El final de Get Fury fue bastante bueno. Fantastic Four estuvo divertido. Y Plastic Man No More sigue sorprendiéndome y deleitándome. El mejor cómic del mes fue The Nice House by the Sea, seguido muy de cerca por Absolute Batman #1. September Comics / cómics de setiembre

And now I’m almost done catching up with recent comics. I got the first issue of Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham because I love Rafael Grampá’s art, but his writing is also stellar! The first issue of Captain America was great, I’ll definitely be getting the next ones. Danger Street and Plot Holes continue to be good. The conclusion of Red Room was intense, Piskor always manages to shock his readers. It’s been ages since I last bought a regular DC Universe comic, and this time I decided to give a chance to the first issues of Wonder Woman and Flash. At last, but not least, my favorite comic of the month was Miracleman, Gaiman’s take on repressed trauma and childhood abuse is a real example of magnificent writing. Y ahora casi he terminado de ponerme al día con los cómics recientes. Adquirí el primer número de Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham porque me encanta el arte de Rafael Grampá, ¡pero su escritura también es estelar! El primer número de Capitán América fue estupendo, definitivamente compraré los siguientes. Danger Street y Plot Holes siguen siendo buenos. La conclusión de Red Room fue intensa, Piskor siempre logra impactar a sus lectores. Han pasado años desde la última vez que compré un cómic normal del DC Universe, y esta vez decidí darle una oportunidad a los primeros números de Wonder Woman y Flash. Por último, pero no menos importante, mi cómic favorito del mes fue Miracleman. La visión de Gaiman sobre el trauma reprimido y el abuso infantil es un verdadero ejemplo de magnífica escritura. September comics / cómics de setiembre

At last I had time to read my new comics, and I must say I’m very happy with September’s offerings. Batman Fortress and Superman Space Age continue to surprise me. I’m also enjoying Mind MGMT Bootleg. The one-shot of Batman Dear Detective has exquisite art by Lee Bermejo, and Shaolin Cowboy Cruel to be Kin also has absolutely extraordinary art by Geof Darrow (so full of wonderful details! I love it!). Normally, I would have chosen either The Human Target or The Nice House on the Lake as my favorite issues of the month, and as fantastic as they were, they couldn’t compete against Miracleman #0, a return to greatness by Gaiman and Buckingham and an impressive roster of creators. I’ve literally been waiting years for this Miracleman series and I couldn’t be happier about it. And now, without further ado, here are September comics, as per solicitations:  

BATMAN DEAR DETECTIVE #1
