Technically these are not April comics, but they were in my last shipment from DCBS which included comics released in the last week of March. Anyway, like I said before, there haven’t been any new comics for the past couple of months so I guess it doesn’t really matter that much if the comics are from March or April. Anyway, let’s start with Legion of Super-Heroes, another fun issue by Bendis and Sook, Fantastic Four: Marvels Snapshots was a really nice surprise, but if I had to choose my favorite comic of the month then that would be Punisher Soviet # 6, Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows’ last issue of the miniseries is impressive. and now, without further ado, here are April comics as per solicitations:
FANTASTIC FOUR: MARVELS SNAPSHOT #1
(W) Evan Dorkin, More (A) Benjamin Dewey (CA) Alex Ross. Our tour through Marvel history continues, showcasing Marvel's greatest characters from the Golden Age to today, all through the eyes of ordinary people! This time, writers Evan Dorkin & Sarah Dyer (Beasts of Burden, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Superman: The Animated Series) and artist Benjamin Dewey (The Autumnlands, Beasts of Burden) tell the tale of the ten-year high-school reunion of the Fantastic Four's own Human Torch. His hometown of Glenville, Long Island is going wild, and we see it all through the eyes of the Torch's ex-girlfriend Dorrie Evans and reporter Marcia Hardesty - the preparations, the Torch's long history in town, the festivities and more. But there's a strange distance between Johnny Storm and his old schoolmates, one Dorrie knows all too well and Marcia is determined to get to the bottom of. Featuring ex-villains, strange souvenirs, a weenie roast on the beach and, of course, the hulking Inhuman hound known as Lockjaw! Don't miss the festivities! Rated T
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #5
(W) Brian Michael Bendis (A/CA) Ryan Sook, Travis Moore. DC's far-flung future is happening right now! With the secret of Jon Kent revealed, the Legion of Super-Heroes is united to save New Earth from those who would destroy it. Will Aquaman's lost trident be the key to New Earth's demise? Plus, Mon-El comes clean about his connection to Jon, and Cosmic Boy and Ferro Lad find out they both have a crush on the same Legionnaire.
PUNISHER SOVIET #6
(W) Garth Ennis (A) Jacen Burrows (CA) Paolo Rivera. • The soul-chilling end of PUNISHER: SOVIET is here. Explicit Content
X-MEN/FANTASTIC FOUR #3
(W) Chip Zdarsky (A/CA) Terry Dodson. A nation of mutants' lives is at stake while FRANKLIN RICHARDS makes a momentous decision! Will the FANTASTIC FOUR and X-MEN just stand by and allow it to happen? Rated T+

FANTASTIC FOUR: MARVELS SNAPSHOT #1
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #5
PUNISHER SOVIET #6
El escalofriante final está aquí. Contenido explícito.
X-MEN/FANTASTIC FOUR #3

May comics / cómics de mayo
Unlike previous years, this time I got 6 FCBD titles, and in general I enjoyed them all, but my favorites were 2000 AD and Betty & Veronica (I was truly surprised to see how promising is this new title from the Archie universe). American Gods and Silver Surfer were very good, but the best issue of the month is the Wicked + Divine 455AD one shot (Gillen really hit the ball out of the park with this one!). So now without further ado here are May comics as per solicitations:

The Hugo, Bram Stoker, Locus, World Fantasy, and Nebula Award-winning novel and upcoming Starz television series by Neil Gaiman adapted as a comic series for the first time! o A Starz TV show! 'An atmospheric, beautifully illustrated take on Gaiman's story.'-AV Club
FANTASTIC FOUR OMNIBUS BY JOHN BYRNE OMNIBUS HC Vol 2
(W) Roger Stern & Various (A) Various (CA) John Byrne. Superstar John Byrne's legendary run concludes with one of the most innovative periods in Fantastic Four history! The sensational She-Hulk replaces the Thing, Sue Richards becomes the Invisible Woman, and Mr. Fantastic is tried for crimes against the universe!
https://www.comixology.com/Cronicas-Insolitas-1/digital-comic/334615

Hero Comics 2011 - Neil Gaiman
Ralph Reese |
Every year, Hero Initiative puts together a comic book anthology that features the work of some the most prestigious writers and artists of the industry. Hero Comics 2011 reunites the original Sandman creative team for the first time in over 20 years: Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith & Mike Dringenberg. This dream team (no pun intended) come up with “My Last Landlady” a very poetic story fueled by the impressionistic art of two professionals that are way above your average penciler. It’s a mixture of horror and sadness, conformism and ordinary life; in only a handful of pages Gaiman, Keith & Dringenberg create a broody tale that deserves our attention.
In subsequent pages, and sort of like a “behind the scenes”, Sam Kieth illustrates the process of reuniting with Gaiman and Dringenberg to work together. Copying paragraphs from e-mails, Kieth creates a visual journey jam-packed with symbolism and experimentation. It’s such a delight to read the crazy emails these talented people send to each other. It truly complements “My Last Landlady”.
Kieth & Dringenberg |
We also have a fantastic page by legendary artist Ralph Reese, famous for his marvelous works in titles like Creepy (I’ve always been a huge fan of his work and I think he was one of the best artists in the 70s). John Layman and Rob Guillory share their most beloved creation, Chew, in a very funny story about experimental drugs. And also from Image, comes Elephantmen by Richard Starkings and Doug Braithwaite; this is a short story about the way that society deals with elders.
Doug Braithwaite |
For 3.99, this is a real bargain. Besides getting an awesome comic, you’re also helping creators in need. I’m glad to help and to be a part of this. For more information visit www.heroinitiative.org and make sure to donate a few bucks.

Un gran complemento para “My Last Landlady”.
