December comics / cómics de diciembre

In December I traveled again to Wisconsin (it’s my fifth trip there since I moved to California), and after spending Christmas and New Year’s in Milwaukee, I came back to Davis and started reading my December comics. The much awaited conclusion of Batman Creature of the Night was great. I really enjoyed Die’s final chapter, as well as the second issue of Dollhouse, Punisher and Legion of Super-Heroes. American Gods continues to be one of the best ongoing titles, and the end of Invaders was quite fitting. However, if I had to choose the best issue of the month then that would be King Thor #4, after 8 years, Jason Aaron has put an end to his awarded run on Thor, with one final issue that is a heartfelt homage to the God of Thunder. And now, without further ado, here are December comics as per solicitations:

AMERICAN GODS #8
(W) Neil Gaiman (A) P. Craig Russell & Various (CA) Glenn Fabry. In the aftermath of the war between gods, Shadow must deal with the leftover monsters and settle old debts. The Hugo, Bram Stoker, Locus, World Fantasy, and Nebula Award-winning novel and hit Starz television series by NEIL GAIMAN is adapted as a graphic novel!

BATMAN CREATURE OF THE NIGHT #4
(W) Kurt Busiek (A/CA) John Paul Leon. Bruce Wainwright is not the man he believed himself to be. He never was. But when you've unleashed horror on the world...what can you do about it? Is Bruce human after all? Or has he become more than a man? It's the unmissable finale of one of the best-reviewed miniseries of the year, sure to go down as a modern Batman classic!

DIE #10
(W) Kieron Gillen (A/CA) Stephanie Hans. END OF STORY ARC 'SPLIT THE PARTY,' Conclusion Forget escaping DIE.

DOLLHOUSE #2
(W) Mike Carey (A) Peter Gross, Vince Locke (CA) Jessica Dalva. One time, just one time, Alice did what the Dollhouse asked of her...and it turned her life upside down forever. But that wasn't enough for the House. There's another piece of the bargain that she's reneging on and until she gives it what it wants, the House can make matters even worse...for Alice, or anyone unlucky enough to come near her!

INVADERS #12
(W) Chip Zdarsky (A) Carlos Magno, Butch Guice (CA) Butch Guice. It all ends here! Can NAMOR be redeemed as the world drowns? Or will THE SPEAR crush THE INVADERS and remake the world in their image? Rated T+

KING THOR #4
(W) Jason Aaron (A/CA) Esad Ribic. THE FINAL CHAPTER OF THE YEARS-SPANNING, AWARD-WINNING SAGA! The sun has gone black. Midgard isn't far behind. The entire Multiverse is dying - and with it, the last of the gods. A millennium ago, the God of Thunder heard a whisper: 'Gorr was right.' Now Gorr the God of God-Butchers ascends to his final murder: the All-Father of all existence. Plus, a who's who of Jason's past THOR collaborators and a few surprise guests help close out the story in thunderous style! Rated T+

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #2
(W) Brian Michael Bendis (A/CA) Ryan Sook. It's been one thousand years since anyone has seen the oceans of the Earth, but with Aquaman's original trident recently discovered, a chase to control Earth's future tears across the galaxy. All this and the reunion you'd never thought you'd see! Another DC sci-fi epic into the far-flung future like you've never seen before!

NEW MUTANTS #2
The adventure continues. Rated T+

PUNISHER SOVIET #2
(W) Garth Ennis (A) Jacen Burrows (CA) Paolo Rivera. • Seeds planted decades ago in Moscow and Afghanistan bloom bloody in New York City. • Who is Valery Stepanovich and why did he mow down a room full of Russian mobsters? • These are questions Frank Castle is going to answer and then decide if Valery deserves his own punishment. La tan esperada conclusión de Batman Creature of the Night estuvo estupenda.

BATMAN CREATURE OF THE NIGHT #4

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #2

NEW MUTANTS #2
La aventura continúa.

PUNISHER SOVIET #2

  1. I still have to read the first volume of Die and I got the first volume of Invaders on sale to read. I did read both volumes of Freshmen, which was pretty good and I loved Spider-Man Life Story.
