January comics / cómics de enero

The beginning of 2016 comes with plenty of comics, just the way I like it. The first issue of Silver Surfer was very good, and I really enjoyed the conclusion of Nameless (I’ll be reviewing the series in April); Doctor Strange and Jupiter’s Circle keep getting better and better. I must say my favorite comic of the month was Alan Moore’s Providence # 6. And now without further ado here are January comics as per solicitations:

ALL NEW ALL DIFFERENT AVENGERS #3
(W) Mark Waid (A) Adam Kubert, Mahmud A. Asrar (CA) Alex Ross. Warbringer has made good on his name, and the All-New Avengers stand poised to yank defeat from the jaws of victory unless they can put their differences aside--and in the case of Ms. Marvel and Nova, that doesn't seem very likely! Rated T+

BLACK MAGICK #1
(W) Greg Rucka (A/CA) Nicola Scott. The hammer falls this Halloween! From New York Times bestselling and Eisner Award-winning writer GREG RUCKA (LAZARUS, Stumptown, Gotham Central) and superstar artist NICOLA SCOTT (Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Earth 2)! Detective Rowan Black works robbery/homicide for the Portsmouth PD, but her greatest mystery is the truth about herself…both who she has been, and who she will become. Yet there are others in Rowan's world with very long memories, and the power that one person holds, another will always covet. PLUS, each issue also features an all-new work of original fiction by GREG RUCKA! A new gothic-noir ongoing series about legacy, destiny, redemption…and the price of magic.

DOCTOR STRANGE #4
(W) Jason Aaron (A/CA) Chris Bachalo. Doctor Strange has gathered a circle of magic-using friends to try and best monitor magic in the Marvel Universe. But this tactic is too late as forces are destroying all magical objects and beings in the multiverse and they are turning their sights on our dimension. At least Strange won't have to die alone... Rated T+

HUCK #3
(W) Mark Millar (A/CA) Rafael Albuquerque. Huck takes his mission across the country, helping those in need, while powerful figures in the US establishment try to use his abilities for their own ends.

With a shocker of a last page that will have everyone talking and the return of one of Tony's biggest nemeses, you will not want to miss this! Also, who are Tony's biological parents? The quest begins here!

MIRACLEMAN BY GAIMAN & BUCKINGHAM #6 (MR)
(W) Neil Gaiman (A/CA) Mark Buckingham. The cast of the Golden Age converges on London to remember, to renew and to rejoice. Miracleman walks amongst the London's Day crowds searching for answers -- before revealing a miraculous gift to humankind! Then, in 'Retrieval,' HE wakes up...and the Silver Age begins!

There were quite a few surprises in the last month of 2015, such as the inaugural arc of the second volume of Jupiter’s Circle, and also the final issue of Brian K. Vaughan’s miniseries We Stand On Guard. The second issue of Huck was good enough. And I absolutely enjoyed the 100-page super spectacular reprint of classic Teen Titans stories (so much quirkiness and old-fashioned humor in the same place… totally worth it). So now, without further ado, here are December comics as per solicitations:

ALL NEW ALL DIFFERENT AVENGERS #2
(W) Mark Waid (A) Adam Kubert, Mahmud A. Asrar (CA) Alex Ross. The Avengers are dead--long live the Avengers! Earth's Mightiest Heroes--Captain America, Thor, Vision, and Iron Man--are living separate lives, not tied to any team--but when a threat from beyond the stars targets our world, fate draws them together once more, alongside Nova, Ms. Marvel, and Miles Morales a.k.a. Spider-Man! RATED T+

Don't miss some of the earliest tales of the Teen Titans in these stories from BRAVE AND THE BOLD #54 and 60, and TEEN TITANS #1 and 4, starring Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl and Speedy!
