In April I had the chance to travel to Washington DC, a beautiful city that I’d love to visit again. Of course, as soon as I came back, I started reading last month’s comics. Ryan North has quickly become one of my favorite new writers, and his run in Fantastic Four is outstanding. Animal Pound and X-Men Forever continue to be enjoyable. First issue of Get Fury is quite promising. Avengers Twilight had some good sequences. I was especially delighted by two FCBD comics: Boom’s James Tynion IV and Fantagraphics’ Stories from the Atlas Comics. Can’t wait to read Alex Ross FF graphic novel. My favorite comic of the month was Batman Dark Age # 2, Mark Russell and Mike Allred are an amazing team, and everyone will love the brilliant portrait of Rah’s Al Ghul and Bruce Wayne, and Alfred too. Seems he'd pulled a disappearing act: one 'Professor Richards,' a hard-luck egghead who'd somehow scored way out of his league. I didn't want to take her case, but my bank account said otherwise, and besides: There was something about her. A sense of danger maybe, but also, a vulnerability. Call me a sap, but the world's a rough place - and me, I didn't want to make it any rougher on her. 'Course, it wasn't long before I wished I'd had the good sense to keep my distance... Rated T+

With that being absolutely the case, Ben 'The Thing' Grimm and Johnny 'The Human Torch' Storm get part-time jobs to bring in some extra cash for the family - and end up getting the same job at the same location. But surely pairing a hotheaded fire guy with an exasperated rock guy is a recipe for peace, quiet and tranquility, right? And surely these two won't bring their own drama with them when working side by side, yes? Also in this issue: anagnorisis! Rated T+
