Crossed Plus One Hundred - Alan Moore & Gabriel Andrade

Post-apocalyptic stories appeal to our survival instincts. Although in real life we may have a comfortable existence, there’s always a primitive, irrational fear in the back of our heads. The fear of things getting out of control, the fear of our own extinction. Perhaps, then, the essence of the post-apocalyptic narrative reinstates in us a sense of urgency long lost in our postmodern world. In Garth Ennis’ “Crossed” we are confronted with the efforts of countless men and women with one simple goal: surviving. 

Survival, however, is not always guaranteed, and yet, we hold our breath until the very last page, hoping that the protagonists will be able to avoid a gruesome death. “Crossed”, as Ennis himself explains, combines action and horror in equal measure, without forgetting “its roots in the zombie genre”. And like most zombie productions, “Crossed” deals with the infectious outbreak and its catastrophic, worldwide consequences. 

Nevertheless, unlike most zombie movies or other post-apocalyptic sagas, Alan Moore’s Crossed Plus One Hundred takes place a century after the outbreak. For those asking if it is possible for humanity to survive against seemingly impossible odds, the answer is ‘yes’. However, mankind as we know it has disappeared. In a hundred years, people’s greatest success has been mere survival. Most of the technological vestiges of the 21st century are gone, as well as luxuries such as television broadcasting, canned food and internet. Science and culture have been abandoned, as people had to focus on how to adapt to a hostile environment. 

After 100 years things seem to be stable enough. The Crossed have languished and perished, or so everyone thinks. Human basic needs have been covered. And once you no longer need to fight for food and shelter, the interest for culture and history awakens. The protagonist of this miniseries is Future Taylor, an archivist, a historian of sorts, a passionate young woman who wants to discover the origin of the outbreak and recover mankind’s historical legacy. While others scavenge the ruins of the cities, Future Taylor and her team look for abandoned libraries and any other place where they could find books and documents from the past.

The first chapter (published in Crossed Plus One Hundred # 1, November 2014) has a numerical title that must be read phonetically “124C41+” equals “One to foresee for one more”; certainly, the introduction to this devastated future is absolutely captivating. The British author gives us a complex world, brimming with dramatic possibilities. Moore’s incursion into humanity’s darkest era reminds me of my favorite post-apocalyptic sagas, such as “The Helltrekkers” (by Wagner, Grant, Ortiz & Lalia), “Hombre” (by Segura and Ortiz) or novels such as Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road”.

Moore carefully explores the notions of change. For instance, sexuality has freed itself from labels and taboos, embracing Foucault’s principle of “bodies and pleasures”. In this future, it’s normal to see a mature woman openly discussing her desire for sexual intercourse with a teenage boy, what might be considered as pedophilia nowadays and thus legally and morally reprehensible, is completely normal in the future. 

Of course, language has evolved too. From simple things such as names (Future Taylor, Forward Dietrich, etc.) to actual grammar structures. Verbs now have different conjugations, and words that would be common to us have been replaced by others. The dialect of Future Taylor and her comrades is multifaceted and prolific, and these words set up a unique atmosphere, much like Anthony Burgess’ Nadsat does in “A Clockwork Orange”.

The second chapter (published in Crossed Plus One Hundred # 2, December 2014), aptly titled “Return of the King”, is an obvious reference to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Future Taylor and her comrades go all the way to Graceland, home of Rock’n Roll King, Elvis Presley, and there they find an unsolvable archeological mystery. 

In “Glory Road” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 3, February 2015), we focus on the evolution of the infection; the Crossed are still out there, and they still pose a very real threat to normal human beings. Furthermore, we get a look at Chooga, Future’s settlement, where the primitive and yet complex life of the survivors is unveiled. In a few pages, we witness the interactions, the organization and the resources of people who had survival as their only goal for so long that now, that they are finally making plans for a better tomorrow, they’re still numbed by a tradition of violence and destruction.

First encounter / primer encuentro

“A canticle for Leibowitz” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 4, March 2015) builds on the previous premises. It's quite impressive to see how much the world has changed in one century. But perhaps is even more interesting to observe how mankind has finally let go of the terrible ideologies and religions that defined its past. There are no political powers. No nationalities. Sexuality is no longer a taboo. And people have modified old religions, adapting them to their new reality. In Murfreesboro the Muslims live a healthy existence and women are as respected and valued as men. For Future things are clear: “Our believes never helped us when bad things actualed. They just made it not our responsible. They stopped us from skulling everything was randomed”.

In “Tyger, Tyger” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 5, May 2015), Future Taylor and her team set foot on a Crossed settlement unlike anything they’ve ever seen: “It’s almost like they did fuck more culture than us”, they affirm. While humans have been busy, a new and more lethal breed of the Crossed has been planning how to destroy the last remnant of mankind. Moore takes us to 2008, when the world’s most dangerous psychopath and serial killer feels at home after the initial outbreak; infected by the Crossed virus, this man however manages to retain his mental capacities, and he starts training a new generation of the Crossed, superior in every way to their mindless and savage predecessors. Able to communicate, reason and make plans, as well as control the more inferior breeds, they become a formidable enemy.

The logical conclusion comes in “Foundation and Empire” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 6, June 2015), as the Crossed finally make their move, slaughtering the people of Chooga. Future and her friends arrive to their hometown too late to warn them. There are truly scary scenes here, and the suspense keeps on increasing from page to page. I won’t spoil the ending but I will say this: Crossed Plus One Hundred has been, hands down, the best title I’ve read in 2015.

Gabriel Andrade’s art is absolutely spectacular. He had already impressed me a while ago in Avatar’s “Ferals”, but in this miniseries his creativity reaches a whole new level. Unhindered by the constraints of the present, Andrade designs a very dark and creepy future, a world in which technology is built upon the raggedy remains of what has been rescued, refurbished or recycled. Andrade’s characters also have a very realistic anatomy, each one of them having distinctive features and a particular body language. There is a special graphic appeal in the ruins and the destroyed relics of the past. Beautifully detailed and harmonic, Andrade’s art makes real the wildest and craziest concepts of the British writer.

Aunque en la vida real tengamos una existencia cómoda, siempre hay un miedo primitivo, irracional, en algún rincón de nuestra mente. El temor a que las cosas se salgan de control, el miedo a nuestra propia extinción. Quizás, entonces, la esencia de la narrativa post-apocalíptica es restablecer en nosotros ese sentido de urgencia que se perdió hace mucho tiempo en nuestro mundo postmoderno. En “Crossed” de Garth Ennis,  vemos los esfuerzos de innumerables hombres y mujeres que tienen un único objetivo: sobrevivir.

La supervivencia, sin embargo, no siempre está garantizada, y aun así contenemos la respiración hasta la última página, con la esperanza de que los protagonistas serán capaces de evitar una muerte espantosa. “Crossed”, como explica el propio Ennis, combina acción y horror en cantidades iguales, sin olvidar “sus raíces en el género zombi”. Y como muchas producciones de zombis, “Crossed” aborda el brote infeccioso y sus catastróficas consecuencias en el mundo.

No obstante, a diferencia de la mayoría de las películas de zombis y otras sagas post-apocalípticas, “Crossed Plus One Hundred” de Alan Moore ocurre un siglo después del brote infeccioso. Para aquellos que se preguntan si es posible que la humanidad sobreviva, la respuesta es ‘sí’. Sin embargo, la humanidad tal como la conocemos ha desaparecido. Dentro de cien años, el mayor éxito de la gente ha sido únicamente la supervivencia. La mayor parte de los vestigios tecnológicos del siglo XXI se han desvanecido, así como lujos tales como la televisión, la comida enlatada o el internet. La ciencia y la cultura fueron abandonadas, ya que la gente debía centrarse en cómo adaptarse a un entorno hostil.

El autor británico nos ofrece un mundo complejo, cargado de posibilidades dramáticas. La incursión de Moore en la era más oscura de la humanidad me recuerda a mis sagas post-apocalípticas predilectas, como “The Helltrekkers” (de Wagner, Grant, Ortiz y Lalia), “Hombre” (de Segura y Ortiz) o novelas como “La carretera” de Cormac McCarthy.

Moore explora cuidadosamente las nociones del cambio. Por ejemplo, la sexualidad se ha liberado de las etiquetas y los tabúes, abrazando el principio de Foucault de “cuerpos y placeres”. En este futuro, es normal ver a una mujer madura hablar abiertamente de su deseo de tener relaciones sexuales con un adolescente, lo que podría considerarse como pedofilia en la actualidad, y por lo tanto legal y moralmente reprobable, es completamente normal en el futuro.

Por supuesto, el lenguaje también ha evolucionado. Desde cosas simples, tales como nombres (Future 'Futuro' Taylor, Forward 'Anticipación' Dietrich, etc.) a las estructuras gramaticales. Los verbos tienen ahora diferentes conjugaciones, y las palabras que serían comunes para nosotros han sido sustituidas por otras. Además, aquí también vemos a Chooga, el asentamiento de Future, y observamos la vida primitiva y no obstante compleja de los sobrevivientes. En pocas páginas, somos testigos de las interacciones, la organización y los recursos de personas que tuvieron como su único objetivo la supervivencia durante tanto tiempo que ahora, cuando finalmente están haciendo planes para un mañana mejor, todavía están entumecidos por una tradición de violencia y destrucción.

Remembering the past (2008) / recordando el pasado (2008)

“Cántico para Leibowitz” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 4, marzo de 2015) continúa con las premisas mencionadas. Es impresionante ver lo mucho que el mundo ha cambiado en un siglo. Pero quizás es aún más interesante observar cómo la humanidad por fin ha dejado de lado las terribles ideologías y religiones que definieron su pasado. Ya no hay poderes políticos. No hay nacionalidades. La sexualidad ya no es un tabú. Y la gente ha modificado las religiones antiguas, adaptándolas a su nueva realidad. En Murfreesboro los musulmanes viven una existencia saludable y las mujeres son tan respetadas y valoradas como los hombres. Para Future las cosas son claras: “Nuestras creencias nunca nos ayudaron cuando las cosas malas actualizaban. Sólo hicieron que no fueran de nuestra responsable. Nos impidieron cranear que todo estaba azar”.

En “Tigre, tigre” (Crossed Plus One Hundred # 5, mayo de 2015), Future Taylor y su equipo llegan a un asentamiento de los Crossed diferente a todo lo que han visto en su vida: “Es casi como si hicieron más jodida cultura que nos”, afirman. Mientras que los seres humanos han estado ocupados, una nueva y más letal raza de los Crossed ha estado planificando cómo destruir los últimos restos de la humanidad. Moore nos lleva al 2008, cuando el psicópata y asesino en serie más peligroso del mundo se siente como en casa después del brote inicial; infectado por el virus de los Crossed, este hombre se las arregla para conservar sus capacidades mentales, y comienza a entrenar a una nueva generación de los Crossed, superior en todos los sentidos a sus predecesores salvajes y sin mente. Future y sus amigos llegan a su ciudad natal demasiado tarde para advertencias. Hay escenas verdaderamente escalofriantes aquí, y el suspenso sigue aumentando de una página a otra. No revelaré qué pasa al final, pero diré lo siguiente: “Crossed Plus One Hundred” ha sido, sin duda, la mejor colección que he leído en el 2015.

El arte de Gabriel Andrade es absolutamente espectacular. Él ya me había impresionado tiempo atrás con “Ferals” de Avatar, pero en esta miniserie su creatividad llega a un nivel superior. Sin trabas ni limitaciones, Andrade diseña un futuro muy oscuro y espeluznante, un mundo en el que la tecnología está construida sobre los restos destrozados de lo que se ha rescatado, re-ensamblado o reciclado. Los personajes de Andrade también tienen una anatomía muy realista, cada uno de ellos con características distintivas y un lenguaje corporal particular. Hay un atractivo gráfico especial en las ruinas y las reliquias destruidas del pasado. Bellamente detallado y armónico, el arte de Andrade hace realidad los conceptos más salvajes y demenciales del escritor británico.

July Comic Books / Cómics de julio

I got a dozen of wonderful comics in July. There were a few first issues that I found fascinating: Waid’s Strange Fruit (good story and impressive art), Vaughan’s We Stand On Guard (which deserves its own review) and Gillen’s Mercury Heat (smart sci-fi plus lots of action scenes). Garth Ennis continues to crack me up with his All Star Section 8, it’s just so much fun. And Airboy also made me laugh out loud, amazing mini by James Robinson. It’s safe to say that in July, the best books come from Avatar, in fact, my favorite comic of the month is Moore’s Providence # 2. And now, without further ado, here are July comics as per solicitations.

En julio recibí una docena de maravillosos cómics. Hubo varios primeros números que me parecieron fascinantes: “Strange Fruit” de Waid (buena historia e impresionante arte), “We Stand On Guard” de Vaughan (que merece su propia reseña) y “Mercury Heat” de Gillen (ciencia ficción inteligente y mucha acción). Garth Ennis me ha hecho reír a carcajadas con “All Star Section 8” (divertidísimo). Y “Airboy”, la asombrosa miniserie de James Robinson, también me ha hecho reír una y otra vez. Es justo afirmar que en julio, los mejores títulos vienen de Avatar, de hecho, mi cómic favorito del mes es “Providence” # 2 de Moore. Y ahora, sin más preámbulos, aquí están los cómics de julio.

Museum - Fernando de Felipe

If I recall correctly, I read “Comix Internacional” almost 20 years ago, it was a magnificent anthology that would include the best European artists of the moment, under the guidance of Josep Toutain -the Toutain (or Totem) of comics- an emblematic editor that popularized countless writers and artists in titles such as “1984”, “Zona 84”, “Totem”, “Creepy” (Spanish edition), etc.

Despite the high quality of this anthology, some stories were better than others; and the best example would be the brilliant “Museum”, created by Fernando de Felipe. It's hard to remember exactly what it was about it that initially attracted me the most, perhaps it was the black humor, the acid and merciless irony that characterized his work.

I guess for me, and for many other comic fans, it's very easy to identify with the leitmotif of “Museum”. These pages have one element in common: the greed of collectors; the obsessive need to complete a collection is something that all comic lovers can recognize. How far can we go to satisfy our insatiable need as collectors?

Fernando de Felipe introduces a group of characters that go beyond our usual collecting activities, thus turning a hobby into a deadly addiction. For instance, let's look at the tragicomic chronicle of Rugiero Pianoforte, who murders all his family members to collect their ashes, in beautiful urns. "Pulvis eris et in pulverem reverteris" is the quote that marks the beginning of this hilarious and yet creepy story. Fernando de Felipe's sense of humor is macabre and insolent, and ultimately absolutely delicious, allowing us to root for this weird character. However, no one can take his collection to the grave; as much as we devote an entire life to gather in one place those objects that we treasure so much, sooner or later we must say goodbye to them and to the world. For the protagonist, the solution is quite simple: after committing suicide, he states in his last will and testament that his ashes have to be placed next to the urns of his relatives. Of course, he is unable to predict what will happen later, when the entire collection falls into the hands of distant cousin; this ignorant man mixes the ashes with his morning coffee, believing this could help him with his bowel movements.

Then we have the case of a famous designer who collects food packaging: cans, bottles, boxes, bags, etc. Although his mistake is to eat the contents of those packages. After a long time, these terrible eating habits have a consequence, and his body finally collapses. Once he gets hospitalized, the man quickly replaces one collection for another one, now focusing on collecting medical products, pill boxes, bottles, boxes, creams, etc. This character is ridiculed by the unusual museum guide, who is the narrator of all the stories.

Rugiero Pianoforte kills himself / Rugiero Pianoforte se suicida

The most eschatological chapter revolves around a renowned scientist, a single woman with no social life who decides to "file" her body. She begins harmlessly, collecting her hair, but then she starts putting her fingernails in storage, and then she keeps all the wastes and secretions the human body is capable of producing. Finally, with this disgusting collection, she builds a golem of putrefaction and invites the press and all her friends to admire her filthy creation. This particular story left me deeply impressed when I read it the first time, and despite the years, it continues to have the same impact and intensity.

The only section that breaks a little bit the narrative tone is the terrifying testimony of a respected professor, an academic who collects evidence of serial murders, evidence he purchases at exorbitant prices from a corrupt cop. The killings are incredibly violent. The error of this academic is to start investigating who the murderer might be, an initiative that costs him his life.

I have not talked about all the chapters of this delirious “Museum” but I have already shown how irreverent, original, wacky and fun they can be. Fernando de Felipe was undoubtedly one of the most talented authors of the Spanish comic book scene in the early 90s, but he had the bad fortune to start his career at a time when the Spanish publishing industry was in crisis. This is why he only did a couple of graphic novels, and that's a shame, because he was not only a great writer but also a prodigious artist. With clean and firm lines, cartoonish and sinister, quirky and different to his European colleagues, the drawings of F. de Felipe are unique. His characters may not follow the canons of classical anatomy, but they are deeply humanized; similarly, through the use of color, Felipe creates in his men and women impossible skin tones that look extremely well on the page. “Museum” is the magnum opus of an author who abandoned the world of comics after a few years. This is also a lost jewel of the European comic scene, and an unforgettable masterpiece that you will always want to reread, even after 10 or 20 years.

Si no me falla la memoria, hace casi 20 años leí por primera vez “Comix Internacional”, una magnífica antología que reunía a los mejores creadores europeos del momento, dirigida por Josep Toutain –el Toutain de los cómics–, emblemático editor que catapultó a la fama a innumerables guionistas y artistas, y responsable de revistas como “1984”, “Zona 84”, “Totem”, “Creepy”, etc.

Pese al altísimo nivel de calidad de esta publicación, había historias que destacaban más que otras; entre ellas, claro está, el magistral “Museum” de Fernando de Felipe. Resulta difícil recordar con exactitud qué fue lo que más me atrajo inicialmente, quizá fuera el humor negro, mordaz, ácido y sin piedad que caracterizaba a esta obra. 

Supongo que para mí, y para cualquier otro aficionado a los cómics, es muy fácil sentirse identificado con el leit motiv de “Museum”. Estas páginas tienen siempre un elemento en común: la avidez del coleccionista; esa necesidad obsesiva de completar una colección es algo que todos los amantes del cómic pueden reconocer. ¿Hasta qué punto somos capaces de llegar para satisfacer nuestro insaciable apetito de coleccionista? 

Fernando de Felipe nos presenta a un grupo de personajes que llevan el coleccionismo al extremo, convirtiendo una apasionada afición en una terrible adicción. Ahí está, por ejemplo, la tragicómica crónica de Rugiero Pianoforte, quien asesina uno por uno a todos los miembros de su familia para poder coleccionar, en bellas urnas, sus cenizas. “Pulvis eris et in pulverem reverteris”, es la cita que da inicio a esta desternillante y a la vez espeluznante historia. Fernando de Felipe hace gala de un humor macabro e insolente, pero absolutamente delicioso que permite que nos hagamos cómplices de un personaje tan extraño. Sin embargo, y he aquí el quid de la cuestión, nadie puede llevarse su colección a la tumba; por más que nos dediquemos una vida entera a reunir en un solo lugar aquellos objetos que tanto atesoramos, tarde o temprano tendremos que despedirnos de ellos y del mundo. Para el protagonista la solución es sencilla: luego de suicidarse, exige en su testamento que sus cenizas sean colocadas al lado de las urnas de los familiares que él mismo mató a lo largo de los años. Aunque, claro está, él es incapaz de prever qué es lo que sucederá después, cuando la colección íntegra pase a manos de un primo lejano de pocas luces que, buscando alivio para su estreñimiento, mezcla las cenizas junto con su café matutino.

Golem

Luego tenemos el caso de un reconocido diseñador que colecciona envases de alimentos: latas, botellas, cajas, bolsas, etc. Aunque su grave error es comerse el contenido de esos envases. Tras mucho tiempo de tener pésimos hábitos alimenticios, su cuerpo finalmente colapsa y termina hospitalizado. Rápidamente, este hombre reemplaza una colección por otra, dedicándose ahora a coleccionar envases de productos médicos, cajas de pastillas, frascos de píldoras, chisguetes, goteros, etc. Este tipo de personajes patéticos son ridiculizados en las descripciones que de ellos hace el guía de este insólito museo, incapaz de compadecerse de ellos.

El capítulo más escatológico corresponde al de una renombrada científica, una solterona sin vida social que decide “archivar” su cuerpo. Empieza de manera inofensiva, coleccionado el pelo que ella misma se corta, pero luego pasa a guardar sus uñas, y de ahí a almacenar todos los residuos que el cuerpo humano es capaz de producir: desde caspa y mugre, hasta la piel que ella misma se arranca, pasando por todo tipo de excrementos y secreciones. Al final, con esta repugnante colección, ella arma un golem putrefacto e invita a la prensa y a todas sus amistades para que admiren su inmunda creación. Esta historia en particular me dejó profundamente impresionado cuando la leí originalmente, y pese a los años sigue teniendo el mismo impacto e intensidad.

a professor obsessed with serial killers / un profesor obsesionado con los asesinos en serie

El único capítulo que rompe un poco el tono narrativo es el terrorífico testimonio de un respetado catedrático, un académico que colecciona evidencias de asesinatos en serie, evidencias que compra a precios exorbitantes a un policía corrupto. Los asesinatos son cruentos, retorcidos y violentos. El error de este académico es empezar a investigar los asesinatos, iniciativa que le cuesta la vida.

No he mencionado todos los capítulos que componen este delirante “Museum”, pero ya he demostrado lo irreverentes, originales, desquiciados y divertidos que pueden ser. Fernando de Felipe era, sin duda, uno de los autores más talentosos del panorama del cómic español a inicios de los 90s, pero tuvo la mala suerte de empezar su carrera en una época en la que la industria editorial española entraba en franco declive. Es por ello que existen relativamente pocas obras realizadas por él, y es una lástima, porque no solamente era un guionista excelente sino también un artista prodigioso. De trazos limpios y firmes, caricaturesco pero siniestro, extravagante y diferente a sus colegas europeos, el dibujo que F. de Felipe nos ofrece es inconfundible. Sus personajes, pese a desafiar los cánones de la anatomía clásica, están profundamente humanizados; del mismo modo, mediante el empleo del color, de Felipe crea en sus hombres y mujeres tonos de piel imposibles en la vida real pero que funcionan extremadamente bien en la página. “Museum” es el magnum opus de un autor que a los pocos años abandonó el mundo del cómic. Es, también, una joya perdida del cómic europeo, y una de esas obras inolvidables que uno siempre quiere releer, así pasen 10 o 20 años.

June comic books / cómics de junio

There were only 9 comics for me this month. But the good thing is that most of them were absolutely great. Garth Ennis and his All Star Section 8 is the funniest comic I’ve read in 2015, I literally couldn’t stop laughing when I was reading it. On a similar vein, Airboy was also hilarious, and much better than what was expected. And my favorite comic of the month is Crossed Plus Hundred # 5. And now, without further ado, here are June comics as per solicitations. 

AIRBOY #1 (of 4) (MR) 
Worlds and minds explode in a brand-new series! When acclaimed comics author JAMES ROBINSON (Starman, Fantastic Four) is hired to write a reboot of the 1940s action hero Airboy, he's reluctant to do yet another Golden Age reboot. Just what the hell has happened to his career-?! His marriage?! His life?! Hey, it's nothing that a drink can't fix. Este mes sólo hubo 9 cómics para mí. Pero lo bueno es que casi todos fueron estupendos. March comic books / cómics de marzo

March was a month almost entirely devoted to sci-fi comic books. Alan Moore’s Miracleman continues to amaze me like no other comic could; while Moore’s Crossed Plus Hundred remains as my favorite current miniseries. Avengers # 35 was surprisingly good, but Invincible # 115 was even better. I also had the chance to read some very promising new series, such as Suiciders # 1 (a compelling story about a post-apocalyptical Los Angeles plus great art by Lee Bermejo), Shaper # 1 (an ambitious space odyssey written by Eric Heisserer and illustrated by Felipe Massafera) and, of course, Chrononauts # 1 a new miniseries about time travel that reunites two of my favorite authors: Mark Millar and Sean Murphy. However, if I had to choose the best issue of the month I think the award would go to Descender # 1 (by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen) an impressive futuristic tale about robots and intergalactic intrigues (and the art is top notch!). So without further ado here are March comics as per solicitations.

Marzo fue un mes dedicado casi exclusivamente a los cómics de ciencia ficción. “Miracleman” de Alan Moore continúa asombrándome, mientras que “Crossed Plus Hundred” de Moore sigue siendo mi miniserie actual favorita. Avengers # 35 fue sorprendentemente bueno, pero Invincible # 115 fue incluso mejor. También tuve la oportunidad de leer prometedoras nuevas series como “Suiciders” # 1 (una atractiva historia sobre Los Ángeles en clave post-apocalíptica con el grandioso arte de Lee Bermejo), “Shaper” # 1 (una ambiciosa odisea espacial escrita por Eric Heisserer e ilustrada por Felipe Massafera) y, por supuesto, “Chrononauts” # 1 una nueva miniserie sobre viajes en el tiempo que reúne a dos de mis autores predilectos: Mark Millar y Sean Murphy. Sin embargo, si tuviese que elegir el mejor número del mes creo que el premio sería para “Descender” # 1 (de Jeff Lemire y Dustin Nguyen) un impresionante relato futurístico sobre robots e intrigas intergalácticas (y el arte es de primer nivel). Así que sin mayores preámbulos aquí están los cómics de marzo.
